Through programs, funding, and partnering with its member agencies and local law enforcement, MWPA is working to implement state-of-the-art wildfire detection, warning, and alert systems, and develop/maintain a county-wide network of safe evacuation routes and temporary refuge areas for residents during evacuations to reduce loss of life and property during a catastrophic wildfire event.
MWPA currently administers the following programs to improve detection, alert, and evacuation systems. The following programs are funded by Measure C “core funds” for cross-jurisdictional projects. Additional projects may be implemented by local fire agencies through Local Wildfire Prevention Mitigation funds or from other funding sources. See member agency websites or the MWPA Work Plans for specific project details about Local projects.
