The September Executive Officer's Report is out. Here's what's in it:
Super El Niño panel: We're partnering with the Marin County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers and the Marin Conservation League on a panel about the coming Super El Niño. Dr. Daniel Swain will set the stage. Executive Officer Mark Brown will join him, along with Marin County Emergency Manager Steven Torrence and Chief Climate Officer Nadia Seeteram. It's September 30 at 6:00 pm, online.

Wildfire resilience loans: We reached out to several lenders about offering residents short term, low interest loans for home hardening and Zone 0 work.
Redwood Credit Union has tentatively agreed to a 6.99% rate, well below what it usually charges for this kind of loan. If a subsidy of about $250,000 can be found, the rate could drop to 3.99%. Residents who moved from the California FAIR Plan to Mercury Insurance are saving about $5,000 a year after spending about $15,000 on average on wildfire resilience work, so the savings more than cover the loan costs. We expect the loans to open in October. Residents will be able to find them through their Wildfire Risk Reports, in partnership with Fire Safe Marin.
Recent Board actions: The Board approved an amendment to Task Order F&K-25-005 (up to $243,145) to keep work going on the Inverness Seahaven Project. It acknowledged that environmental compliance is done for the Novato Core Direct Assistance and Novato Hazardous Vegetation Removal Programs and for the Southern Marin Zone Tamalpais Homestead Valley Expansion Fuel Break Project. It approved a fourth amendment to the Willow Labs, LLC agreement. It also approved releasing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for vegetation management, tree trimming and removal, and fuel reduction contractors under master services agreements.

On March 1, 2025, Governor Newsom declared a state of emergency regarding wildfire risks
