The Marin City Fuel Reduction Zone will create a contiguous fuel reduction zone between open space and approximately 409 structures located in Marin City. The fuel reduction zone will include approximately 27.2 acres and spans approximately 13 parcels owned and managed by National Parks Service, Marin Housing Authority, and private landholdings. Project activities target invasive vegetation, dead and down woody debris, and other fire hazardous vegetation while seeking to retain healthy native plant communities. The project will reduce fire intensity near homes and improve the chances that suppression efforts would be successful in the event of a wildfire. Environmental compliance for this project is complete and implementation/maintenance is ongoing.
